  1. you do have a valid point. here in Canada being metric you would think a liter of gas would be a liter or 1000cc's. well  some of us measured what we purchased and found our "metric" liter is actually 0.946 or 1 U.S. quart. However, when you have a government that is friendly to the oil industry don't expect any action. the oil industry makes huge profits at our expense. Happy motoring

  2. I hate to be the one that  brings you bad news, but if you are worried about a few ounces of gasoline you lose at the gas pumps, just think of the millions of gallons that are being lost each hour to feed the Arabs, George Bush, Bill Clinton and all the rest who rides around with about 10 to 15 cars escorting them. Man you need a life

  3. Be sure to keep in mind the dangers of filling a vessel that is not properly grounded. Static electricity can ruin your life in a hurry! Just ask the many deformed and defaced consumers of gasoline that was being drawn into portable containers that were ignited by a simple spark. Carefull what you wear and wear you place your empty jug before re-filling!

  4. Any standard measuring cylinder should work well enough.  Standards for measurement are evidently done in milliliters so make sure you get one that is maeked that way.  Here is an interesting article that may help you think out what you are trying to accomplish.
