  1. You can buy a kit with mounting bracket and instructions from TruckTrainHorns.com...

  2. I did that with a semi truck horn on a pickup for a freind of mine, we used a 12 volt electric compressor and a large reservoir, you can buy one at any auto parts store.

If you dont want to do it yourself, any place that installs auto accessories can do it.

Just another air horn, only bigger.

Nothing complicated, just a big job.

If the volume is too high, all you have to do is turn down the air pressure a bit, it will still have that great tone but be quiet enough to be legal.

  3. LMAO you should consult your local laws but www.hornblasters.com has a dealer locator

    be safe with them

    and enjoy their online videos

  4. I've put 'em on vehicles other than locomotives in the past. These were M.O.W. vehicles. You can mount it anywhere you want. You can do that easily yourself. The expense (not too much expense) will be in finding an air compressor that will run off of your vehicle - either from the engine's belt and pulley system, or a heavier duty electrical system, over what you have now. And you'll need a reservoir tank too. A truck accessories outlet would have what you need. I forget exactly how much air is required to make the horn operate, but I think it's around 60 psi.  Not a whole lot of pressure.

  5. It would be illegal in most states.  Check your state and local laws.  The locomotive air horn requires a lot of air and a high pressure setting, so you will probably have to install an air compressor that will power the horn.  A truck air brake compressor might do the job if you can find a place to mount it and arrange a belt to drive it.

It's going to be an interesting project, and more complicated than you think.  Have fun.

  6. not legal. too loud.

  7. The train horn is most likely an air horn so I would try a commercial truck mechanic or a truck stop. As far as cost is concerned remember this is custom fitting $$$
