  2. Most mattress shops sell metal bedframes in various sizes designed to support a box spring.  Some come with casters.

As an alternative, you might make a simple rectangular frame of 2 x 4 lumber screwed together with triangular braces made of 3/8" plywood at the corners to keep it square.  Add 4 Shepard casters and you're all set.  When you buy the casters, buy the kind with a flat plate on top so you can s***w it onto your frame, rather than the kind with a post that give less support and will eventually bend over.  Almost any good hardware store will stock casters.  Just check the package for the weight they are designed to carry and make your calculations accordingly.

If you want to pretty it up a bit, cover the 2 x 4s with a pretty fabric wrapped around and stapled on the bottom.

I built something similar to this but added a piece of plywood screwed on top of the frame plus a foam mattress.  The whole thing stores neatly under a standard bed but provides extra sleeping space when relatives show up with kids in tow.
