Any large warehouse store or grocery store with an in-house bakery will make a cake to your order.  Even the 3-4 layer ones with pillars between layers.  Most of them have a book you can look thru and order something.

Here, in Florida, we have Publix Supermarkets. They do cakes for all occasions that are nice and reasonable. If no such place where u are, try the local popular supermarket/bakery.

honestly, we did Publix for our daughters castle cake and the dang cake was litterally falling apart on the way to her party! We dont truse Publix anymore, but u could try Walmart, or even sams club? we got cakes from both places before and they came out pretty good! Good Luck!

I got mine from the grocery store bakery.  I think I paied $40, but this was 12 years ago.  Our wedding was very low key, but it seems to have done the trick.

A lot of people have done sheet cakes from Cost Co.  Seems cheap but cake is cake.

My sister found someone at her church who liked to make really awesome cakes for fun...it ended up being her wedding present from the lady. Also I used to go to a cake supply shop or michaels/hobby lobby and they would have people advertising who do it from home. OR...you might be gutsy enough to go to your local grocery store and ask to talk to their cake decorator..then explain you are trying to get a wedding cake on a budget and ask if she would be willing to make you one...even maybe she does them outside of work...
