  1. YMCA or your local Red Cross.

  2. Hello.  The majority of Lifeguard Courses are held 'pre-season', that is March through June in the United States.  However, that does not mean that everyone everywhere stops teaching these!  The best thing to do is call your local chapter of the Red Cross.  They might know of current classes in your area.

Other sources would be the Pools and Water Parks in your area, the YMCA, Private Swim Clubs, and Community Colleges.

When I used to teach Lifeguarding regularly, I would typically do three courses in the pre-season, and one each during the Summer, Winter and Early Spring.  These off season courses were often better than the big classes pre-season with fewer students and less of a rush to get the classes finished.

As far as finding a Lifeguard job:  If you get certified this Summer you will likely be able to find end-of-season jobs at Swimming Pools and Water Parks.  It's always a big problem keeping staff towards the end of a season and frequently pools need to replace Lifeguard staff who have taken off on vacation or for an early school start.

    Good Luck!
