  1. try your local library or thrift stores. They usually have used patterns that are really inexpensive. just check to make sure the pieces are all there.

  2. FREE PATTERNS!

    www.burdastyle.com

  3. that crafts shop has to sell the patterns at what the company that makes them says to sell for.

go to thrift shops and second hand shops for cheap patterns also go looking at garage sales and places like that.

  4. If you check JoAnn's sales flyer, every other week or so one of the pattern brands will go on sale for $1-$2/pattern (Simplicity, McCall and Butterick. Vogue doesn't go quite that low.) Also, most of those brands have sub-lines of simple patterns for beginners that are only about $3/pattern.

For example, Butterick's Easy See and Sew line:

  5. The 'burda' site offers some free patterns, and the rest are very reasonable. I believe you have to join, but it's free.

  6. Depending on what type of patterns you are looking for you can try email patterns. http://www.PatternMart.com has a large variety of craft patterns that you can buy and download instantly. Also some free ones.
