  1. You need to get a displacement sensor from Omega, and use it with a delicate spring. Size the spring so that 1mg of force gives the smallest detectable displacement. An LVDT (Linear Variable Displacement Transformer) sensor would probably be the best for this. Be sure to isolate the sensor from vibration.
