  1. To my knowledge there are no required shots to visit

South America unless you are going to certain parts of the rain forest.  I suggest that you get a list of the shots that you need and then call your nearest neighborhood clinic and ask.  That should do the trick.

    Good luck,

    Mr. M on "shots."

  2. Hello!

I've traveled to South America a couple of times and have never needed shots.  But I do agree with Mr. M in that you might need some if you are going to the rainforest or a place like that.  I would contact the consulate or embassy and ask if you need them to where you are going.  They will provide you with more accurate information and refer you to a clinic.

    Good luck and happy traveling!

  3. As the others said, I don't think there are any required immunizations, unless you are traveling to the jungle.  Go the following CDC website for specific information on your destination:

    http://www.cdc.gov/travel/vaccinat.htm

Nearly all immunizations are available in most hospitals and clinics.  Call ahead to confirm they have what you need.  Malaria prophalaxis is a prescription that can be filled in any pharmacy.
