in the poem there is a scorpion which hides under a sack of rice due to heavy rain. when the poet's mother goes there, the scorpion bites her

people of the village come like swarm of bees to her. they search for the scorpion.(they believe that if the scorpion moves , the poison in her body also moves which will lead it to spreading in her body and cause pain)

they are unable to find the scorpion. so they prey to the Almighty that wherever the scorpion is , it is not moving

the poet's mother is in a lot of pain

[the villagers believe that the pain she is suffering, is wiping out the sins she has committed in the past. She is compensating for her sins by suffering pain.The villagers also believe that the pain is making her future peaceful and is also compensating for the sins she might commit in the future.Villagers perceive the pain as a bleesing in disguise for the poet's mother].(imp.ques.- what is the strange philosophy of the villgers?

the poet's father, who is a rationalist person, also tries to do something by putting wax on the toe of the mother and burning it.but he fails as well.

after one day  the pain naturally subsides and the poet's mother says - Thank God , the scorpion bit me not my son
