Dear Friends,

I have an info about a palace in tamil nadu india which could possibly be a site for archelogical study, where and whome should i contact to inform about it?

A LOST PALACE

'Maniketty Pottal' is a place in the Kanyakumari district. There is an old palace in its dilapidated condition, spread over an area of about four and a half acres of land.

Although the side walls are falling and little Banyan trees are spotted to have sprouted and branched up at certain regions, waiting for it's ultimate fall.

There lived as late as 1924 Niila Marthanda Nadar, a chieftain fallen away from the ancient Chera dynasty of the Villavaas.

Except for a few portraits of him and some of his ancestors, and the palace courtyard where the Chiefs passed just judgments on their subjects.

This too is a site for studious historical research.

  1. Archaeological Survey of India is your best bet. Look at http://asi.nic.in

Honestly, with all the red tape involved in govt. work, I don't believe your bit of information is gonna be acted upon. I'd be surprised if they even read it.

India has such a great heritage that a book can be written about every nook and corner. Such is our history. Such is the antiquity of our civilization. So much so that, India itself could be declared as world heritage country.

Anyway, ASI is not doing a satisfactory job is preserving our enormous history. I doubt whether even better known heritage sites are being properly taken care of. We will be in tears on what is happening/happened to unrecognized marvels across the length and breadth of our country.
