  1. Not Blackpool!

  2. I second Edinburgh! I live here and the festival is amazing, you will have loads to do, theres a great atmosphere around the place at the moment, theres definitely something for everyone!

  3. Edinburgh the festival is on at the moment, loads to see and do.

  4. I have to confess I don't know the North East too well as I am in Somerset South West.  There are some fab places this way in Somerset/Devon and Cornwall.... however, as you are only taking a short break, I'm sure you don't want to spend the majority of your time travelling.  So - I would look in my local telephone directory for a luxurious hotel.  It doesn't matter that you are not far from home, indeed, you can be on the doorstep and feel as if you are a million miles away if you get a nice place in the country.  That way you will save on fuel, have longer there, and be able to afford something luxurious that you may not be usually able to afford because of the saving you have already made!

    Have a lovely time.

  5. How about The Lake District. Check out;

    This is a great little guest house, right in the heart of Bowness on Windermere. Overlooking the lake, tucked away from the shops bars and restaurants, but still within easy walking distance. Nice and cosy and very friendly.

  6. Which part of the north east?

    You could go to York, but then if you're from that area it might be a bit dull.

    You could go and stay in a converted castle hotel or something- there are loads of them around

    For example, this place: http://www.hazlewood-castle.co.uk never been myself, but it came up high on google! It looks quite nice

  7. Wales is beautiful along with Cornwall and Newquay is nice. I've also heard Bournemouth beach is great.

    I'm sure once you've find where you want to go you'l find great discounted hotel rooms if you book online.

    Have a nice time.
