  1. Photograph it from all perspectives and contact your local museum, or one close to you one that specializes in oriental art and history send the pictures. They will give you an appraisal. If it is authentic they may want to see it in person. I have sent items to the Smithsonian and they were returned, so not to worry on that account.

  2. You might start with an appraiser or an antiques dealer. It's likely you'll need some time and patience as no doubt you'll be referred several times. Some possible links are listed below.

A geologist or archaeologist might help. Again, it's being patient and finding the right person.

Curious question, how do you know it's jade and that it's Chinese? You might start with the mineral and take the lead from it.

  3. Post a picture. Are you sure it is jade? Is it just green and when you rub it the surface is rough...... then it could be metal.

Even if you have identified it as as actual piece of jade. It might be possible that someone in Neolithic times used a piece of jade to produce a spearhead. But jade would not be the stone of choice. Later for many thousands of years jade has been prized in regard to Chinese culture.

In the 1800 and 1900 hundreds many pieces were made for purely ceremonial and decoritive purposes. They look much older than they are.

Then you get into provenance. Where did it come from and how did it come into your possession. Post that detail and a pic and someone may help you.

  4. As well as the Smithsonian you might want to also try the Seattle Museum or Asian art or San Francisco?

Are you sure its jade and not copper oxidised to green?

You may have a sword blade?

    Good luck getting it assessed!
