  2. Look in your local phone book under Aircraft Charter, Air Taxi , or Flight Schools. To do this legally, you need to hire a commercial pilot and plane from a company that is certified for Airline or Air Taxi Operations. However, if you hire an instructor and plane from a flight school, and you have the instructor give you and / or your boyfriend a lesson in cross-country flying as part of your trip, then this would also be legal. The latter method would probably be cheaper and maybe even more fun.

You might also put an ad up on a local airport bulletin board advertising for anyone who owns a plane to take you on a flight. Even a private pilot can do this as long as you share equally in the expense. A private pilot cannot charge for such services, but many of them look for any occasion to fly, especially if they don't have to pay all the expenses. Be careful about who you'd trust though. Comercially licensed pilots are a safer bet.

    Great present. Enjoy!

  3. be very careful...

There is a rule that states:

"A private pilot can not fly for hire or reward"

Which basically means that a private pilot can not be hired or paid for thier services. They would need to ba a comercial pilot to legally be paid.

Because becoming a comercial pilot involves a lot more training and cost, hiring a comercial pilot can be very expensive.

One trick you might want to consider is finding a private pilot who is looking to build thier hours... and offer to pay for the aircraft hire, landing fees and fuel costs... but not to pay the pilot... That way the pilot doesn't have to make any payments, they get to add more hours to thier logbook and it's all legal... he is the one making the flight... you just happen to be passengers.

Contact local flying schools or clubs and enquire if there are any pilots willing to do this...
