  1. It all depends what kind of training you mean.

There are, in emergency services training, awareness and combat courses taught - the difference being awareness is understanding the risks of a Hazmat incident and the combat being how to actually contain and clear it.

Fire brigades are the combat agency (e.g., in charge of containing) all Hazmat incidents - from small petrol spills to major industrial mishaps - so they are generally the providers of training - but the kind of training will vary on need.

If you are not a fire brigade member, then you won't be given training in use of splash suits or containing a Hazmat incident - simply because this job is conducted by the brigade and they don't want civilians attempting it.

However you might be able to arrange an awareness course - basically, to understand what a Hazmat incident comprises, what will happen and what you can do to be safe.

If you work on an industrial site, you can do specialist training for the kind of incidents that site might encounter, too.

Do you live in an industrial area - and are concerned about the risks of a Hazmat spill? If so, again, contact local brigades to look into an awareness course.

    Good luck!

  2. Contact your local disaster preparedness office and see if they offer any kind of civilian training classes.
