  1. online

  2. first off i'm assuming you're talking about the table top miniatures wargame. not the video game "dawn of war".

anyway, go to gamesworkshop.com and click on "store locations" at the top right. here is the link: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/storel...

if you're lucky, there will be either a Games Worksop store or an independent hobby store near you.

i think only official games workshop stores give the "free" game. basically this is one of the employees going through a brief run through of how a game is played. here is a link for more info: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/conten...

by the way, you might get the employee trying to get you to buy something so be aware. i buy all my 40k stuff on ebay...much cheaper that way.  :)

  3. That depends on where you are in the world.

Certainly, if there's a Games Workshop hobby centre near you then you'll be able to get an introductory game there.  Check out the store finder at the appropriate branch of the Games Workshop website to see where you nearest branch is.

Alternatively, where there isn't a GW hobby centre, there's often an independent stockist.  Some of these are just toy shops but some are wargaming shops in their own right - these will often run intro games themselves and have dedicated areas for games, with tables like you'll find in GW.

The last chance to learn is at a wargaming club.  These can be found worldwide.  In the UK, there's a national coordinating body, the GCN, to which many clubs are affiliated.  The full list of GCN clubs can be found either on the GW website's community page or at the GCN's own website (and in White Dwarf).

Many wargaming clubs offer you the first visit free, but even those that don't won't usually charge more than £2-3 per visit and there's likely to be a veteran there who'll take you through a simple introductory game if you arrange it in advance.  If you can't find a club with the GCN, try Google as many independent clubs have their own websites with details of meetings and times.
