International Email Chess Group (IECG) is another place whose aim is to organize, develop and promote the study and practice of international email chess all over the world. All of its activities are *free* of charge, and its officials work on a volunteer basis. Also, they offer you the possibility to play by mail or using a server.

Regarding the engines, in ALL places you will find some cheaters because today there is not way to prove that somebody is using an engine, but this is another discussion.... :o)

I play chess in www.chess.com Here you can play with really good players. Just sign up to ur own account and you'll be ready.

Internet chess club.  Probably the best place to play real players.  They have people checking if you are playing with any engines.  The people get banned if they play with a chess program or become a computer account.  It cost money though.  

Another site is fics this is free.  And you can go to freechess.org to sign up there.  They also have some people that can tell if your cheating.  Usually no one cheats on these sites and you can play real humans.
