Where can i print/download free makaton symbols?

my son is 3 has high level autism im trying to teach him makaton but cant find any symbols on the net that i can print for free

I know that there is a book in the library for Makaton and various videos are available too.

I have a book that I was given when I was learning BSL. Many of the signs are adaptations of that.

Try the library instead xx

I think you may be looking for the wrong thing Hun, my twin son is nine and has severe autism non verbal also, at school he first started using the p.e.c system which is the picture exchange system, it has really helped Thomas lean the basic skills, they have only just introduced him to makaton and its taking Thomas a lot to learn this i would try the p.e.c system to start to see how he gets on with this, below is my son at school in pictures

I was always under the impression, perhaps mistakenly, that Makaton is not a language, but actually a system for learning, and was compiled by a couple of people whose own names made up "Makaton".

The language is, of course, British Sign Language, and the system employed by Makaton is a simplified grouping of basic words leading the learner from lower to higher grades with increasing vocabulary.

Have you looked at Amazon's web site for a published book about the Makaton system and signing?

There is an enormous "Dictionary of British Sign Language", published in association with the British Deaf Association and compiled by the Deaf Studies Research Unit of the University of Durham.

If all else fails, the BDA would, I'm sure, be only too pleased to help.
