If I were you I'd get to London and go down Tottenham Court Rd in the West End. There you will find a good few shops..owned by Indian guys who will do you great deals and generally with not too much B***s**t. They actually supply a good lot of the film making industry in the UK. Generally most of the dealers in the road should be fine and the prices are sharp as they're competing with each other. If you have an idea of what you want and want to get your hands on one and get a deal then that's the place. They have most of the cams such as XL2 etc in the windows.

However..do your research online first with regards to the models etc so you go there prepared to haggle if you like something. Get them to throw in a bag and do a sharp deal on a tripod too. I've bought cameras there a good few times and there's been no issues with warranties either..but check that out that you get a full EU warranty.

It will depend on the camcorder manufacturer and model. Perhaps if you visited the web sites of the camcorder manufacturers in which you have interest - they all have "Contact us" links and can tell you where they sell their camcorders.

My apologies for not having the conversion rate handy, but a "pro-camcorder" like the Canon XHA1, Sony HVR-V1U or Panasonic HVX200 will be over US$2,900...
