  1. My library has free online access to HeritageQuest, which has US census from 1790-1930. You will probably need a library card to access it.  Check your library's website.  Also many libraries have Ancestry.com for free at the library building site computers only. It probably has international ancestry also.

Some england birth, marriage, death are on freebmd.org.uk/

Familysearch.org - search tab, try all and IGI.  They will have a new better website next year.

    Check websites for family trees,

try rootsweb.com message boards, check the state and county boards also.

  2. familysearch.org

*also, most of the mormon churches have free geeneology libraries with free help, you don't have to be a member of the church...llok those up....they are  a huge help!

  3. well it depends on whether or not you want their birthdate, colege or school records, ect. i know a birth website but thats all.

    http://www.birthdatabase.com/

you can trace any persons birthdate..ect

  4. There are over 400,000 free genealogy sites. I have links to some huge ones, but you'll have to wade through some advice and warnings first.

If you didn't mention a country, we can't tell if you are in the USA, UK, Canada or Australia. I'm in the USA and my links are for it.

If you are in the USA,

AND most of your ancestors were in the USA,

AND you can get to a library or FHC with census access,

    AND you are white

Then you can get most of your ancestors who were alive in 1850 with 100 - 300 hours of research. You can only get to 1870 if you are black, sadly. Many young people stop reading here and pick another hobby.

If you are still reading, fine. People ask this question 3 - 12 times a day. I used to paste a long text file of links and tips into each answer. Yahoo! limited the length of replies. I pruned the text file. Yahoo! limited the number of links to popular web sites. All of my links are to popular sites. They are to genealogy what facebook is to teenage angst.

So, I took the links out, leaving just one link, to a page on my site:

    http://www.tedpack.org/yagenlinks.html

It has links, plus tips and hints on how to use them, to 11 of the biggest free genealogy sites on the Internet.
