I have quite a few but I don't want to throw them into the bin because of the acid they contain. Is there an environmentally way of getting rid of them?

  1. Check Lowe's.  Our Lowe's store has containers to drop batteries in.

  2. Hi, I live in the IP33 2JA area and the bin men leave me a little plastic bag with my bins for batteries, dont know if you live near anyone in that area??

  3. Ace hardware - if you have them where you live.

If not call your cities dpw and they can probably tell you.

  4. Depends upon the type, but in general recycling facilities for ordinary batteries are quite rare.

Nowadays, there is next to no cadmium, mercury or lead in normal household batteries.

A study done some years ago indicated that it was better to distribute the batteries (as in land fill) rather than concentrate the waste in specialist collection centres.

Lead acid batteries can be returned to outlets such as Halfords.

The result of the chemical reaction in normal zinc carbon batteries is mainly water (H20), the Zinc being used up as part of the reaction.

  5. In a lot of areas you can put batteries into recycling bins.  Ask your local council for a list of things they will accept or places that will accept used batteries.

  6. take them to your local waste recycling centre it should be in your yellow pages or local directory

  7. You could go to any Jiffy Lube participating store to recycle your batteries.  Jiffy Lube is environmentally conscious, so feel free to visit them...They have a special container for disposal

  8. My local authority takes household batteries in the weekly re-cycling collection, though items accepted vary from council to council; best to telephone yours and ask what facility they have for battery re-cycling.

  9. I would take them to your local tip they will take them of of you.
