I'm in 10th grade. How can I prepare myself now, and look for opportunities in different ways to be able to become a news anchor later on?

  2. Sarah, you should plan on attending journalism school after graduation from high school. Most TV news anchors were reporters and editors before they were promoted to the anchor's chair. In college, you will learn how to write and how to become a reporter. Learn the fundamentals of the news business. Also, you must have an intimate knowledge of the market in which you are working. For instance, if you are a TV news anchor in Iowa (where I live) you will have to know how to pronounce all of the unusual place names our state has and know how to pronounce the names of the news makers you'll be reporting on. Don't expect to get hired on as an anchor right out of college. A lot of people in the news business want to be anchors, but that position is earned through hard work and learning about your market from the ground up. Good luck in your future.
