  1. What you should of done is studied Journalism in college with a minor in fashion merchandising, you wouldn't be having this problem if you did. There's no such thing as "Fashion Journalism", by that if you mean working for a fashion magazine your going to have to study journalism and get acquainted with fashion either by studying merchandising or taking some sort of fashion class.

  2. You need to major in Journalism. I've never heard of an actual degree in Fashion Journalism. If by fashion you mean writing for a fashion magazine then yes, major in Journalism. You definitely need to have a passion for fashion as well as a passion for WRITING. You need to know how to write like a Journalist. You need to know what exactly you're talking about when writing about fashion. Fashion journalism would consist of writing features for magazines, online blogs or newspapers, fashion reports on television, etc.

You're already a big step ahead by majoring in History and Political Science because those are usually minors (or majors) that aspiring Journalists go for.

I don't know much about the best fashion schools. But the best Universities for Journalism in the U.S are --to name a few--- Columbia University, University of Southern California (USC) and Northwestern University.
