  1. if he is into old style food and drink i would go to the Cheshire Cheese..the oldest pub in London...it has fabulous food and a great atmosphere!

  2. It it a special occasion? If it is take him to Gordon Ramseys on Royal Hospital Rd, Chelsea, It's as good as it gets. It's expensive but he'll remember it forever. If money is an object, Mr Ramsey has other eateries such as the one at Claridges, or if you're after something a bit more low key try the Boxwood Cafe, which is also Ramsey associated.

  3. Roules just off the Strand. You have to book most nights. I do hope they are still there it is some time since I went they are wonderful

sorry spelt it wrong is is Rules and it is still there

  4. fridays or maison novelli

  5. Great food and atmosphere try Antony Worrall Thompson's Notting Grill. Went for my birthday. Fantastic!! Very relaxed restaurant with bags of character. AWT champions the best of British meat and has an open kitchen so you can see whats going on in there from your table. Reasonable and well worth a visit. Can't wait to go again myself.

  6. Assuming when you say your Dad knows his food you mean English food, then Rules is a very traditional quality dining establishment. It is civilised but not too s****., serves proper English food in decent portions. It is also reasonably priced for a quality London restaurant & will be a good name drop for when they are talking about what a super son they have (they may not realise this at first & all parents claim they don't care about that stuff, but trust me they WILL talk to their friends & will soon realise you did your research & this restaurant will put you up there as a top son !!!)  Definitely book though .... check the menu etc & see what you think .....

The Guinea Grill is also good for Steak & Kidney Pie/Lamb/Steak in a less formal setting ie attached to a pub -  http://www.theguinea.co.uk/

Ramsey restaurants are great but if you're Dad is old fashioned he will freak at the prices, especially at Ramseys more traditional places like Claridges as it is a bit 'posh' & he might feel uncomfortable/it's a rip off .... etc

  7. If he is a Londoner and you live in London, then look for a good Fish & Chip Restaurant or If He really is a Gourmet the Good Old Fashioned Pie & Mash. They are not dear eating places but you can bet he would enjoy it. With a few Pints after. Afterall its the company that is important not the price of the menu.

  8. Depends on which part of london you live in

  9. Take him to Mint Leaf, It's a indian style food restuarant - or a bit fusion... It has a great atmophere! The cocktails are amazing!

The food is very well presented... the menu has such a wide variety. I think he might just love the new age style food it will be somthing different, but the exclusivity of the restuarant makes the atmosphere very classy and special. I really enjoyed the service and felt like I was a part of some kind of secret society... like the masons.

  10. I'd like to recommend 'Patterson's' in Mayfair - and if you book through london-eating.co.uk you get 50% off your food bill.

This is my partner's favourite restaurant in London and if my folks ever get themselves into gear and come and visit me then I'll be taking them.

The London Cheffing community has tipped this restaurant for a Michelin in the next round but by going now you get Michelin quality food and service without the price!

  11. Rules is good - it's the oldest restaurant in London and does great game.  It also has an amazing history - Charles Dickens used to eat there.

Otherwise, the Savoy Grill is absolutely fab now, and the location makes it a little special:

My old-fashioned parents really liked both of these places.

  12. Can i adopt you son?

none of my five ever taken me to dinner.

      all they do is tap

  13. Try looking on www.tabletop.co.uk  its a great site with nearly every london restaurant on it with lots of reviews!!

Good luck and have a nice time - spoil your dad, you only get one!!

  14. gordon ramsey`s you get abuse for free

  15. The OXO Tower is very nice & Ditorri,s The Neal Street Restaurant is good & also Mon Pleasure

  16. The best resturant in London - if you like Italian, is Scallini's on Walton Street, avoid Christmas as it does get very load, the waiters sing to you, you can give them a cake to bring out, the foot is to die for, the atmosphere is wonderful, I cant think of one bad thing to say about the place.
