Where can i throw a bbq at in santa cruz, california?

its my boyfriends 24th birthday and we want to throw a bbq. we only have 400 dollars so where ever we go it has to be affordable. any ideas of hotels that allow bbqing? or a cheap beach house?

A friends house?  I don't live in CA but a lot of apartment complexes around here have a clubhouse that you can rent out.  Or try someplace like an Elk's Lodge, Woodmen of the world, or other civic organization as they will often times rent out their facility for not a lot of money.
