Where can i use my inflatable and small outboard in south Scotland?

Bought a small inflatable boat and 2.5 hp outboard and looking for suitable places to use it?

  1. If I were in Scotland, instead of West Virgina, I would try one of the rivers there, such as the Tyne. Look around, ask some of the locals THERE, and see what you come up with.

  2. There are many  inland waters, which I would stick to with such a small engine, but the majority will need permission from the riparian owner to gain access. The countryside code allows you access but you may still require a licence and some are definitely out of bounds such as primary drinking water reservoirs. Also some rivers are very fast flowing and some very shallow.

    Coastal will be free and easy but only use it in quiet conditions with light or no wind and small waves or preferably a flat calm.

    The canals of Scotland are in the Central Belt with none in the South or Borders.

    Based on the little info as to where you actually live that is the best I can do.
