My non-computer-person friend at work needs to find his records from back then.

If it matters, he left as a Spec. 4. (hope that's the right abbreviation!) and was discharged on good terms.

I told him I knew just the place to find out how to get his records, don't prove me wrong! lol

Thanks on his behalf for your help!

  1. Since he doesn't have a computer to request his records he'll have to request them by mail. Here's what you got to do.

    Go to this site:

    http://www.archives.gov/research/order/s...

Print the 3 page form and give it to your buddy.

Have him fill it out and mail it to the appropriate address on the form.

That's all he has to do and they'll mail him copies of his records. Its free and easy. Good luck.

  2. Many records were destroyed in a fire. I wish I could remember the years, but he needs to call any post or base or camp and ask personnel and they will give him an address in Kansas or Missouri (wherever it is).

Sorry, I have the information, but it is in my papers and I would have to dig them out.

I had to get information on Air Force and called Travis AFB, and they gave me address to military records and told me of the fire.

  3. Talk to your local Veterans Affairs or ask at a local VFW.  They will quickly point you in the right direction!
