We are up in our years and want to try our hands on sewing

but we would like to teach ourselves without having to take

a class at the college. (they want to much for class.)

Anyone with any suggestions on what books to get? Some-

one told us to get a book on sewing for dummies but we

haven't found a store in our area that has that.

Serious replys only. Thank You...

  1. Try your library. You can check out several books on the subject and then take your time looking through them to find one that works for you

Simplicity also makes a couple of patterns Sewing for Dummies. Try picking up one of those for your first project

  2. I just bought a book called "S.E.W.: Sew Everything Workshop" It's really good and comes with free patterns in sizes S-M-L. It starts at the basics of how a sewing machine works and walks you though the basics step by step with projects to help you learn. By the time you get to the end of the book, you'll be a pro!

I also liked the looks of "sew Fast, Sew Easy"  but haven't bought it yet.

    I found mine at Borders/Waldenbooks.

I too did not start to learn until I was "older".

    Love this book.

is my earlier reply to someone else.  Remember that your library probably has a number of good sewing books, and there are used sources like http://abe.com and http://www.alibris.com
