  1. http://www.chesscorner.com/tutorial/lear...

I found this tutorial isn't bad, and it is free.

  2. IchessU.com is a nice and a serious place. It's online chess university, where you can take live chess lessons from international masters and even grandmasters. They have syllabus, give homework etc. Lessons are given through special downloadable software, includes video and audio. So it feels like a really class. I am a student there and enjoy learning chess there very much. Link: www.ichessu.com

  3. Well, it's rare you can learn chess online because it's either you face the computer or you face another person.  Either or, it won't be a delight for a noob.  I suggest you buy a program, there are awesome programs and then select the level.  The computer will take it easy and also there are tutorials with programs.

If not, ask someone who knows how to play.  Unfortunately, you don't know me so I can't help you face to face.

Last suggestion, go to an online site, and watch a few games being played and hopefully you can pick up the basics.
