  1. Cambodia is the last of the Wild west type locations.  its about as wild as it gets without going into gunfights in Africa. Its inexpensive, beautiful and on the edge. Truly and old fashion adventure in the back country.

May I also suggest the Gibbon Experience in northern Lao.  You hike in to your hotel and your hotel is hundreds of feet up in the trees.  You move from treehouse to treehouse by enormously long Zip lines some hundreds of meters long.  Absolutely beautiful.  Check out their web site but make sure that you also look at the various testamonials on youtube etc. amazing stuff.

god.. there are so many amazing places to go that promise unlimited adventure.  and some get really scary.  Try a night bus ride through the Vietnamese highlands.  Heart in your throat.

Go and try the Gibbon experience.  You will have and adventure of a life time. Its probably the most unique experience in the world right now.

  2. Depending on where you live and or where you are starting from. . .I would suggest a two to three day train trip to some scenic area.  Take Amtrack through the Rockies to Banff or Lake Louise in Canada.

I took the Siberian Express for seven days out of Moscow to China and that was a great experience.

Again depending on where you live. . .You could take a few days and drive down the Baja Peninsula in Mexico and take in the natural beauty.  Have your parents pay for a five or more days stay in Hawaii.  You could also get on a boat/barge at Luang Prabang in Laos and float down the Mekong to Ho Chi Minh city. . . .not expensive and have the adventure of your life.

  3. Whitewater rafting

    Yellowstone

    rockies - Durango

Grand Canyon hike to the bottom

    Yosemite

  4. to the woods

  5. Go North

Head up to the BWCA in Minnesota.

It is absolutely gorgeous up there and you can rent everything you would need for a great camping trip.

No cell phones, no TV, no radio...just you and nature.

Do some research and you can find an outfitter that can set you up with canoes, food, equipment and maps.

I never thought it would be as much fun but I love heading up there and just getting away from everything and just listening to nature.  Lots to see too.  Bears, moose, wolves and more wildlife than you can imagine.  Not to mention all the great fishing or the chance to catch the Norther Lights at night.
