  1. Mud crab Scylla serrata

Distribution - Mud crabs inhabit tropical to warm temperate waters from Exmouth in Western Australia up and along the coastline of the Northern Territory and Queensland to the Bega River in southern New South Wales. They favour soft muddy bottoms below the low tide level and generally live in sheltered estuaries, mud flats, mangrove forests and the tidal reaches of some rivers.

  2. well, most edible mangrove crab in south east asia are blackish in colour(before ther are cooked).

  3. There is a species of small rock crabs (talangka) that is native to the philippines that is black in (natural) color. I say natural because it also turns red when you cook it, although it is usually eaten just fermented (it is buried in salt for a couple of days). This fermentation process does not change the crab's color.
