me and my girlfriend are looking to move out into a new flat, we are expecting our first baby in december. my partner has had bad credit with landlords as her ex messed her around. We know that the chances of her passing the credit checks are minimal, we are not sure what to do as nearly every place does them. Does anyone know of anything that might help. we live in Exeter, Devon. help would be appreciated.

  1. i would see the citizens advice bureau and they will advise you on how to get ur gf debts written off, you need to get your names down on the council list as they will be able to house you whatevber your credit rating is, also wherever you are now will be overcrowded when the baby comes so the council have to rehouse you, if all else fails borrow a touring caravan park it in your nearest layby and move in the council will soon house you , not because they think ur gippos, not because your causing an obstruction and not because its an unhealthy eyesore but plainly because they cannot charge you (or the social) for you being there

  2. take guidance of elder relatives of yours.they may help much to you

  3. have you tried housing associations? they rent and they part own. there are housing associations all over the place. ask at your local council or citizens advice bureau. all the best

  4. As someone else has suggested, you can rent the flat in your name and the checks can be done on you.

Alternatively, try looking in your local newspaper paper or websites like fish4. There are often people renting out places they live independantly and will just ask for deposits and references and not do a credit check.

    Good luck.

  5. Can't you just rent it in your name.
