  1. Which kind of Polaroid Instant camera are you looking for?  I've had pretty good looking for cameras at thrift stores and flea markets.  So far, I've picked up a Polaroid 210, 215, 230, and 440 LandCamera at assorted thrift stores around my area.  All in working condition, might I add.  I've bought them for prices ranging from $3-$10, and there is still film being made for them.  Even when Polaroid closes its factories in December, FujiFilm is making a pack-film to replace the film those cameras use.  They are very high quality (even higher quality than the original Polaroid films) and oftentimes are less expensive than the Polaroid films.  They even have the film able to do the same things that Type 669 film can do, like emulsion lifts and image transfers.

Here's a link to the instant pack films that are still being supported:

If you are talking about the Polaroid 600 cameras, I've also found those at thrift stores, but Pooky's point holds true there.  FujiFilm has not come out and said that they will make replacements for the 600 film, unlike the press release they have issued regarding the Type 100 film (like Type 669, 667, etc.).

Really, it all boils down what kind you'd like to get.  Second hand, you should be able to find cameras with little problems.  The biggest question is if you want the kind that spits out the camera (which may or may not have a Fuji replacement) or the kind that you peel apart (which does have a Fuji replacement that tends to outperform the original).

  2. Nowadays in resale stores. Polaroid has stopped making them--and this includes the films, too.

  3. I have purchased a couple from Wal Mart, and I know that CVS has had them.  I have not looked recently, but I assume they still have them.

They have always been right in the photo department, where the other cameras and film are sold.  If you can not find them, ask.
