  1. Kimonos are Japanese, they are expensive and difficult to wear.  If you can read Japanese, I can give you some Japanese websites.

Other than that, all you're going to find is a yukata.

Since kimonos/yukatas are Japanese, you won't find any in England unless it's run by Japanese.

Like the previous answer stated, Kimonos can cost up to $20,000 or more, and usually Japanese women have only one or none at all.

  2. You can sometimes find one at an antique store or used clothing store that specializes in exotic goods.

An authentic kimono can cost $20,000 or more if you are talking about the Obi, Hapi, Hiyoku etc included. Just renting one in Japan for a ceremony costs over $1,000. The most expensive can cost as much as a house.

Used however they become very cheap. There is almost no market for a used Kimono. I would start calling around the antique stores and asking if they have them or know a shop that carries them.

To buy a new one in Japan most people go to a department store Like Hanshin.

The kind of Kimono you are looking for is called a furisode. This is the style you will see on Maiko and Geiko typically.

  3. Ebay has TONS of excellent Kimonos

You just need to know the right words to type in the search

Ebay even has a whole section dedicated to authentic Kimono!

But since theres several different types of Kimono I would first find out the type that you want

Theres informal kimono like the Yukata

Then theres more regular wear: komon

(Theres many more types of kimono but I'm not going to list all of them here.)

Both the Komon and Yukata are inexpensive and I would recommended that you stick with them since the more formal kimono are all silk and harder to maintain.

Heres a good seller that you can look at too:
