  1. Go onto yahoo finance and click on FTSE. You will see the "tickers" the stockmarket uses to identify the companies stock.

    But I wouldn't touch any stock at the moment. We are entering a 3-5 year bear faze!

There are many websites or there like MSN Money http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp  which under the "investment" tab has many resources for the amatuer and well as the professional investor,  They provide stock research, commintaries by professional writers, stock selections by sectors, size, and their own to 10 & 50 picks.

    There is an entire section on "screening" that has pre-designed screens done by professionals or you have the ability of desiging your own screens
