  1. I play winger and the mistake I see others making far too often is following the action when in defence. When the other team has the ball make sure you are positioned ready to guard your wing. It's all about focusing on the defence rather than the offence - often the centres will take the plays themselves rather than pass the ball out to the wings, and so the winger needs to be focusing on the people coming towards them rather than getting their hands on the ball. Also playing blindside is no excuse to switch off - PAY ATTENTION!! And work on your tackles, as you will be working a lot as part of the 'back three' with your other winger and your fullback as the final line of defence - you need to be able to tackle someone from both directions - when they are running towards you AND when they have broken through the line and you are chasing after them.

  2. Go to www.bbc.co.uk/sport and click on the rugby union section, they have tips on there for you to see.

  3. well thers nothing we can really say just ask your coack and where you should be on the field position wise, lined up against the oppenent winger

  4. Talk to your Fullback, positioning is difficult to teach because the game changes constantly. The more experience you get the better your positioning will be.

Make sure that when the opposition has possesion you are in a line with your players, when you are in possesion then make yourself available for the outside centre to pass to.

At set pieces ask your Fullback where he wants you to be.

  5. Yeah, talk to your full back. I play rugby and im a full back so what I suggest is when you have the ball, NEVER run sideways. Hit the gaps FAST. If you do that, usually you gain alot of yards and sometimes even get a tri. And since the winger is one of the fastest, try not to waist all your energy if you dont have the ball, keep up with the backs but once they call a play the consists of you and when you get the ball, book it. Run straight, hit the gaps, book it and you should be fine.

It works for my team :)

  6. Well on offence always talk to your centers cause they are the ones with the fly half making the important decisions, try to keep up with them. If you get the ball go for the gaps or the corner flag. Never unless there's a lot of support run back inside. Thats where all the flankers and centers are. On defence just stay a bit back from the back's line. Normally five meters so when you see the ball kicked you run back and if someone misses a tackle you are there to cover outside.

    Hope it helps
