And just out of curiousity, is that dish originally from China? Do they serve it in Southern China or anywhere else other than in Singapore?

  1. If you want the best Bak Chor Mee, always eat the most authentic version. i.e the soupy one. At Bedok North Blk 85 Market. Very famous. You can just ask anyone when you are over there.

Dry ones which are good..you can try those from the Chai Chee Village Franchise. They are everywhere from Jurong West to Pasir Ris.

  2. i used to go to the hill street bak chor mee at marina square food centre...they are generous with ingredients and you will always find a huge line up at all times of the day! They are a bit expensive though..

The dish came out of China, from the Teochews as you probably guessed already...but it has evolved since then.. the vietnamese and Cambodians also have their own version of Bak Chor Mee but they dont use so much black vinegar and sambal like we do...

  3. Bedok North Road Blk 85 mkt. One bowl for the price of $2.

  4. i saw this bak chor mee store at this hawker behind chinatown point...always very long queue.......have not tried cos too long queue and no time for me but can see lots of tv programm recommendation

  5. I wouldn't know if it's the best but the on ein Sim Lim Square basement food court is prett darn good and quite famous too.

I've never seen it (in the local form) anywhere outside of singapore though.
