  1. ok, a 1 gallon would be sufficiant for 2. 2 1/2 gallons for more. For things that can go with them, NO fish, and NO hermit crabs! The fish will out compete them for food and the hermit crabs can and will eat the seahorses. Also, no live rock. There are crittures in live rock that can hurt your seahorses. Small invertebres like a half inch or less are safe to put in the tank.  Don't 4get to feed them lots of newly hatched brineshrimp, they can eat 3000 a day each! (No that was not a typo, I meant 3000)

  2. what the heck is the first person talking about! no matter how small it is  It can't live in 1 gallon! I'd say ten or more gallons! 1 gallon? these things should be living in the ocean! not bowls!

  3. The problem is not where to get one, but where to get the baby brine shrimp they need.  They only eat live food, eat almost constantly, and most people who get them slowly starve them to death for this reason.  Research carefully and thoroughly first.  They need to be kept in a species tank, with the possible exception of a fish like a mandarin goby.

I would recommend not getting one, regardless of the size of tank.  If you do get one, start with only one and see if you can keep it alive.

You can of course hatch the shrimp yourself.

  4. Actually to the above person...a 10 gal is reccomended due to how hard a one gallon is to cycle, but, if you can pull of a cycle in a 1 gallon, a 1 inch animal that hardly moves is ok.
