I have heard people say that fennel is a home remedy for gas but where do you purchase it from? Would it be in a store like Walmart or a grocer store?

  1. "Whole Foods Market" has it in the bulk herb section for REALLY cheap!!!

  2. the cultured fennel is sold in veggi stores and the wild you can pick in the back yard. this is what you are looking for:

pick it clean it and dry it in the sun and then simmer in hot water to a tea like drink.

  3. It really depends on the type of fennel you want. But, if you're looking for fennel herb to make tea with - it's best to get fresh-dried organic - and that's only going to be available at a specialty natural foods store or online.

    For online....

For fennel tea - the spice fennel will work but there's also ready-made fennel tea bags (which are very good and easy to use)

Teas: http://www.restoringhealth.org.com/remed... - do a search for "happy tummy tea" on that site (You can also get the bulk herb and fennel oil at this site - all organic)

    or

    Ready-made fennel tea bags: http://www.natural-herbs-remedies.com/he...

My favorite brand of pre-packaged herbal teas is Traditional Medicinals. They are solid herbal formulations and won't break the bank. You can find them at the last url I gave you - just choose Traditional Medicinals from the brand drop-down box.

    I hope this helps!

  6. Fresh fennel looks something like short, pregnant celery, with dill like leaves.  It is often sold as "finocchio" or "anise", and is very easy to find nowadays in almost any grocery store w/ a good produce section.  IMHO, the best herbal teas are made from the fresh plant.  You can also wildcraft wild anise almost anywhere in CA.  It used to grow in my yard in the Dutch Flat/Alta area (at about 4,000 in the Sierras along the I-80 corridor) and I have seen it as well near the Bay Area, Sebastopol, Petaluma, Stinson Beach areas.  It's really easy to find and to identify.  Depending upon where you live, you might even be able to plant it in your yard and harvest it from there.  Dried fennel tea (most common brands in healthfood stores & co-ops are either Alvita or Frontier) is usually made from fennel seed.  Other options to settle your stomach would be fresh ginger tea or Reed's Ginger Brew, cinnamon, any mint, fenugreek, chamomile.  There are many, many more as well.
