  1. If you are talking about re-terminating an ethernet cable (Cat-5, Cat-5e, Cat-6) with and RJ-45 connector....it's not tough, but you will need the right tools.

    Tools you will need:

Greeny (very small screwdriver) usually comes with a green handle (excelite). Looks like this http://www.filmtools.com/xcelitegreenie....

    RJ-45 Crimper -  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

RJ-45 connectors - The actual clear connectors http://www.radioshack.com/product/index....

    Sheer Cutter -  http://www.action-electronics.com/cutter...

    Cat 5 stripping tool

Basically, you need to strip the ethernet wire itself. Inside there are coated pairs (white orange, orange, white green, green, white blue, blue, white brown, brown.) Then straighten out the wires in the CORRECT order (White orange, orange, white green, blue, white blue, green, white brown, brown.) using the greenie, then cut them all flush and stright with the sheer cutters. Then (with the copper sockets up on the RJ45 connector) insert the colored wires all the way through the connector. Then insert the connector in the crimper, then crimp, and you're done.

Here's a site that shows how to do it...
