  1. Without buying a telescope, you could visit a local astronomy club.  Most have regular public star parties.  They'll have all sorts of stuff to show it to you.

    Why wait?


  2. You can't go anywhere to get closer or make it look closer.  It looks bigger when it's low near the horizon no matter where you're at, it doesn't make it bigger to be somewhere special.

  3. Top of Mt. Everest.  How romantic.

  4. The moon is always the same distance from Earth no matter where you are ON Earth. All those photographs of what looks like closer views of the moon are optical illusions.
