I just got an acetylene torch, but I need a tank. I haven't seen any on Lowe's, Sam's Club, or Home Depot's websites.

  1. Stop looking to the box stores. Get one from the local industrial gas supplier.  The guy with the knowledge and service to help you.

  2. You must go to a welding supply house or an HVAC parts house. The tanks are around 100 bucks deposit. A "B" tank cost about 15 bucks to fill and an MC tank cost about 9 dollars.

  3. osto is wrong about buying a tank. if you are going to be using the tank alot you are better off buying the tank. renting the tank will cost you 15-20 bucks a month while buying the tank will cost you 150 depending on the size. contact any welding supply shop, they can hook you up. you can get tanks at Tractor Supply, Praxiar. After your tank is empty it will cost you about 30 bucks to exchange for a full tank

  4. I used to rent & exchange as mentioned.

Some gas suppliers will not fill any tanks but their own & may not sell them outright at all.

    Best regards

  5. Look up a company called Air-Gas. They're national. You can buy, or rent any one of 4 different sizes.

  6. Try a welding supply store.

You can buy one on-line, but it will be shipped empty and you will have to fill it locally at a welding supply store.

  7. you have to get them at a welding supply place like Airgas.  you lease them, they dont sell them.  and you cannot exchange it at a competing store.  so when you lease one,  get it at a place where you dont have to travel a long way.  airgas is a nationwide company,  you can exchange(for refill) at other airgas stores.

you will need oxygen tank too.
