Question:

Where could I find a tool with a Metal ball attached to a rod?

We've tried making them, but they don't work as well as we'd like. We basically just need a metal ball between 1-3" in diameter attached to a metal rod about 3/4" or so in diameter.

Does anyone know of a tool like this and/or where we could obtain one?

All help is much appreciated!

  1. Easiest way to do it is with a threaded k**b and a threaded stud.

You can get these on line from McMaster Carr (Link Below)

Look on catalog page 2161 for Metal k**b

and catalog page 3116 for threaded rods.

    Good luck!

  2. Go to a store or web site that sell brass bed frames.  They will have replacement 'balls' for the tops of the bed frame and should run less than $10 a pair.  These are threaded or have tightening screws that should allow you to securely attach them to a rod or pole.

  3. I use a lot of tools but have never come across anything like that. A metal/steel worker would make one for you for dead cheap. What is it for?

  4. sounds like an old sheet metal or glass workers tool. check with glass blowers or sheet metal fabricators

  5. Try your local welder. They should be able to take the 3/4" rod and weld a 2" trailer ball (hitch) to it. The normally come with 3/4" threaded stem.  What you would use it for, I have no Idea!!!

    Good Luck!!!
