I think I have Irish relatives, Kilbys and Murphys, and I would love to find out if any of my distant relatives are still in Ireland.

  1. Build up a family tree.....one thing will lead to another...you might just find some lond lost cousins or something.....

  2. dont know if this is much help

its the dubin census of 1911, if you know were your family lived you can read all about them

    http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/

  3. The GPO might have stuff on them.

    = )

  4. Murphy is the one of the most common names in Ireland, good luck finding the ones you want.

Kilby is not so usual. Try the telephone directory if you know they are from the Republic: www.eircomphonebook.ie I think is the website, otherwise go to www.goldenpages.ie and click on the relevant link.

People have moved around a lot and names are no longer confined to particular areas. If you knew where your relatives were from, you might be able to find church records and perhaps trace living relatives that way.

  5. See the webpage below for several sites to start your research with. I  am sure after you start, one thing will lead to another...and you will find more sites with info on how to do this.
