  1. I'm assuming you are looking for any kind of SQL software...for home use, MySql is pretty standard. From there, I'd recommend WinSql for the interface..it's still basically command line, but it generates your queries in a little more "pretty" manner.

    If you are a student, I believe you can still get Microsoft SQL Server 2005 developer edition for free, through the Dreamspark program here: https://downloads.channel8.msdn.co

    Mysql and WinSql are both freebies
