  1. fisticuf is partly right the planes the Air Force has you can not buy are B52s and larger aircraft. But the F4s and most of the older fighters can be bought. But it helps to have a Polictical connection when you try this. Contact your Senate Members

and Congressional members and explain you need a little pull. Don't be surprised that when you look at the planes you will be asked if you are carrying a Jet rating to fly them.

By the way Movie Actor Tom Cruise has a P51 Mustang and i think a couple of jets too.

  2. As the above posters have pointed out, you can buy old military planes. But don't expect to find one that's not obsolete, and you can expect to pay a lot of money for it. It's a plaything for the very wealthy. You will also need special training, you don't just go from flight school in a Cessna to a supersonic jet.

It's true about the Me262 new builds, but the intention all along was to only build 5, and the last I heard only 2 had been finished, the other 3 can't find buyers. They want $2,000,000 each (without engines) for them!

  3. You can easily buy an L-39 which is a chezk. trainer for 500K.  There are quite a few in the U.S.  The maintenance on them is quite high though.  There is a company out of Gadsden, Al that works on them.  You can also buy really old stuff like P-51's, B-25's, B-17's etc but of course they are not jets.  There are Mig 15 and 17's for sale.  I work for an aviaiton insurance company and I know of one guy that has a Mig 23.  Hope you don't mind a fuel burn at a rate of 900 gallons an hour and jet fuel prices near 7 and 8 bucks.  T-2 buckey which is a Navy trainer cn be found pretty easily.  I have heard you can buy a T-38 now, but I am not sure that is true.  Just remember that most of the jet stuff you buy has to certified as experimental and there are restrictions on what you can do with them.

  4. You can sometimes buy ex-military jets, although obviously there are issues like insurance and having a pilots licence for that class of aircraft.

One site which does advertise ex-military jets is http://www.courtesyaircraft.com/ although most of theirs are either jet trainers or vintage types.

  5. no you cant. they destroy most of the retired fighting planes an only keep the rest for museums and displays and that sort of thing. you could probably purchase a Russian fighter jet but then again i don't think any government is gonna allow you to fly it on their airspace lol.

  6. Here a link to controller.com for mil jets

    http://www.controller.com/listings/forsa...

  7. www.barstormers.com or see Courtesy Aircraft and www.warbirdalley.com (warbird acquisition sources) for a start.

It's not that simple, ALL require intensive training, and most require some special paperwork from the FAA under Expiramental-Exhibition.

  8. I think you can buy some from Russia or the former Soviet Union countries.

    http://www.air-usa.com/Jetsforsale.htm

P.S. Yeah you can buy retired military jets....where do you think they get it from for movies??? What rent them from the airforce? You can buy them but all bombs and weapons are taken off and dismantle.

  10. http:\\www.tradeaplane.com

There are F86s, F80s, F104s, MiG 15,17s,21s, and Saab Drakens in private hands to name a few.  The Flogger is news to me but I don't doubt it.  As others have rightly noted, one just doesn't strap in and start flying around the pattern:  many of these aircraft are owned by former military pilots-some of whom had military time in these very aircraft.  If you've got the money I would recommend:

A37 (FAC version of the T37), L39, Jet Provost, or Hawk.   Finally Stormbirds is building exact, certified with werknumers from Messerschmitt exact, Me262A-5s.
