  2. You can find poison oak in the woods all over.  You might also find it growing along the road in shady areas or up telephone poles, or in woods like parks. It looks a lot like oak tree leaves and they grow in groups of 3 leaves, this time of year the leaves with be starting to turn and by fall will be a bright reddish color.  I had one fool try to tell me it won't grow in full sun, but it will, it will grown anywhere and undisturbed can grow to tree height, especially if it has something to climb.

Seriously though, you don't want poison oak, but if you have to experiment just rub some on a small area and wash everywhere else.  I'm pretty resistant, but I did that.  It took 3 or four days to show up but it was AWFUL!  Definitely worse than chickenpox.  Don't buy it if anyone tells you you can build an immunity by eating it... I have friends who tried that, didn't work and they almost ended up in the hospital.

  3. Dude you dont want poison oak...Its worse then the chicken pox!

  4. In the woods. Poison oak or western poison oak, Toxicodendron diversilobum, is native to western North America, with a distribution extending from British Columbia south to the Baja California peninsula. In Washington and Oregon, poison oak is found mainly in the western regions of the states. In California it is widespread and grows in a wide range of habitats from sea level to the 5000-foot elevation, including open woodland, grassy hillsides, coniferous forests, and open chaparral.
