  1. Coles, Woolworths, IGA, K-mart, Target, Big W, The Warehouse, Office works - they all love taking on younger staff.

    - Most of the places above you apply online on their websites, look for a link 'careers' or 'employment'.  A bit lengthy I know.... but you fill in what area you want to work etc, and they will email you jobs coming up, you can pick and choose, if you are then accepted they will call you in for an interview.

They usually take on a few new staff members at a time so you all train together.

A great website about starting work for the first time and your rights is

    http://www.wageline.qld.gov.au/youngwork...

( My son started at Coles at 14.1/2 yrs old  as an after school / weekend job.   Starting rate was $8.35 per hour, more on Sundays and some holidays.   - may be more now, as this was 3 yrs ago.

when he was 17 - he was getting $15  per hour on Sundays and $11 normal hours.  I assume it would be the same for Kmart, Target, Office Works etc as they are all under the same company (name).

You generally start on checkouts, then can go into whatever is available - my son did Bakery and produce.  Gives you more hours and of course $$$ )

    Good Luck
