  1. charaty

  2. you need to check with the recycling companies around town to see what their requirements are. Some will do it for little or no money.

  3. I would definitely ask for donations. Maybe there is something that your school could sell? (I know that sounds like fundraising, but if you're school happens to have something that they already have...you could sell it) Also, ask local stores, grocery stores, department stores, if you can sit out in front with a table and ask for donations. You might not get a lot if you're not selling anything.) Our school holds a tallent show to make money (we donate it though) Maybe hold a school function. Or "Penny Wars" each class brings in pennies and puts them in a jar, then the teacher with the highest amount of pennies after  a week or so wins donuts, or a free cookie in the cafeteria or something! Good luck! And it probably won't be easy!

  4. well, i would just ask the community to chip it, or send notes home to all the students and see if some of the families are willing to donate a trash bin or basket to the school for recycling, most people i would think woudl understand it was for a good cause and then donate it

  5. go to companys who supply the food in 1st place

  6. Hi wlperie, You could try your local council, a wanted advert on the school gate or a plea for some kind hearted soul to make them as a free project from wooden pallets. With a bit of skill they might not look too bad. You could specify that they should be able to take/fit recycling or refuse sacks. I hope these ideas can help or at least help you to come up with some better ideas of your own. All the best Rab

  7. Has your school thought about General Mills Box Tops for Education.  Every bit of money earned through this fundraiser is money the organization can choose to use the way they want.  Unlike Campbell's Labels where you only get points to select items out of their catologs, General Mills, hands out cash to the schools.

There is information on the Box Tops for Education site.

  8. fundrasing and the state

  9. Look to City Hall where you live and find out if there are any grants for that type of stuff that can be applied for maybe through one of the Clubs at your school.  Also go to your Principal and get his/her input.

  10. Contact your municipal solid waste management department (or who ever does the recycling in your town).  Recycling is the law in most places, so they would be happy to help out.  We had a representative from the solid waste management come to our school.  He walked around and told us best places to put the bins.  Then he donated a bunch of bins for our school.

You should also talk to the head of maintenance of your school.  Tell him/her that recycling is the law and your school need more bins.

Are you a student?  Make it a project.  Research why recycling is important, get bunch more students and even parents on board, and speak to your principal or go to your board of ed meetings.  Administrators will listen to students and parents.

Educate your school community.  Have someone write the importance of recycling and why your school is failing at it in the school news paper.

  15. make them yourself.

If it is for bottles just cut a hole in the lid of a garbage and lable it spray paint it your recycle color.

For paper use a card board box or make a crate  great shop class poject, again spray paint it or have the art class takle it.

In the kitchen a garbage with a blue bag and a list of allowed stuff above it.

Make it convienient and rewarding to recycle, when people have pride in doing it, and it is just as easy as throwing it in the trash people are more likely to do it.  Put positive signs around the school encouraging everyone to recycle and thanking them for taking the time to make an effort avoid the negative fear based demands like ... it's your job to save the planet and if you don't receycle it ends up in our lakes and rivers.   Yes this happen and everyone should prevent it however no one feels good in the right way they feel cocky and better than their neighbour, because it's not their garbage.  It dosen't matter we all make the difference.

By returning empty bottles you get money that usally goes to the student group that does the collecting ask them for the funds.

But honestly i don't see how it will cost anything if you think creatively about what you already have.

  16. the schools have a pto or a pta club they will help you get the funds with out going out to find it. They are really good for things like that.

  17. recycle for extra change?

  18. I would have the school contact the local recyclers. The recyclers are making money of the recycled goods so they would probably do it for free.

  19. Put a request into the state board for review
