  2. Nobody really knows.  Lead is one of the earliest metals man learned to use.  It goes back to the bronze age (it might have been called the 'lead age' but that just sounds silly, doesn't it?)

    The Romans used lead for plumbing, but you probably knew that, and it is mentioned in the Bible, in Exodus 15:10.
