Where did Obama grow up? Was it in an another country?

My friend says he spent 2 years overseas. Is he right? If so does it even matter?

Obama was born in Hawaii, he lived in Indonesia from age 2 to 10. He returned to Hawaii and lived with his grandmother and mother until he went off to university on the east coast of the united states

Obama was born in Kenya. Why isn't he showing his birth certificate?

He lived for a while in Indonesia, after his mother married an Indonesian.  Familiarity with other cultures is a plus, except if you're a paranoid or a bigot.
